The State of the Garden: 2026
While these galleries document a rich period of biodiversity recorded in Lancing between 2004 and 2026, they also serve as a conservation witness. In recent years, our local environment has seen a marked decline in sightings; my own garden now hosts significantly fewer Butterflies, Hoverflies, and other vital invertebrates than it did when this project began. By maintaining these records, we preserve a baseline of what our local ecosystem can—and should—sustain.
